Stage 1 re-map?

I need to be educated on this mod to see if I need or want.

Has anyone done the 270 degree rev limiter and remap from Triumph twin power and if yes, what do you think of the upgrade?

Would this re-map make a noticable difference?

not the 270 but

I had the mod done for my T100 ignitor (REV limit and remap) which is not the same motor but worth comment.

For your machine the REV limit is probably not as important as the ignition map. Not because you don't ride hard but because on your style of machine you are generally not going to have the thing tapped out all the time.

The ignition map will give you better bottom end and midrange and also some change top end (depending on how it breathes).

I reckon it was worth the money IF you go for REV limit AND remap.

Yes, I would have both Rev and re-map done if it gave a more responsive behavior to the throttle.
I do ride my S/M hard, not race track day wild man hard but I will take it to the limit on a regular basis.
Over here the highways are very accommodating for quick starts and high sustainded speeds.

So do you feel it was money well spent? Did you notice the difference after you had it done and would you order again if you needed to?

That was a yes

OK Highwaystar,

That was a yes.

As you are obviously a hard charger that's a double yes.

No it's not going to make your bike suddenly tear your arms off but yes a significant enough difference to bottom end, midrange, top-end as well as REV peak. It will also pull a higher gear better.

I didn't dyno mine specifically on this mod.

All performance gains are relative so the best way to say it is it's a good value gain.

My '04 thruxton picked up a dyno documented 0.5-1 RWHP from 3,000 rpm & up with the pieman remap/rev limit increase when compared to a procom ignitor. YMMV.

EDIT - the documented gain was 1-2 RWHP from 5500 rpms to redline.

Rich,

Are you saying and additional 05-1 rwhp was gained over what you had already gained using the Procom ?

So what was the total of hp gained if you know ?

I'm going to be doing this upgrade very shortly and was just wondering !

Yep, the gains are on top of what the procom offers. Looking back, I see that I mis-spoke earlier in this thread...the HP gains are closer to 1-2 RWHP from about 5500 to redline. Here's the dyno comparison/discussion thread:

http://www.triumphrat.net/twins-tech...-thruxton.html

I did do back to back tests on the stock ignitor vs. the procom, but couldn't do stock vs. pieman since the stock was an 865 ignitor and the pieman remap is for the 790 cams I put in the bike. The procom only made maybe 1/2 RWHP more than the stock ignitor across most of the range, with a bit more than that up top since my procom didn't have a limiter - or none that I ever found when running it up to about 9,000 rpms (not on purpose).

The pieman remap is clearly a worthwhile upgrade and lets you make the most of the $$s spent on airbox removal/pipes.

Cheers,

--Rich

Thanks boys,... thats what I wanted to hear, an affirmative yes! Sounds like it should sharpen it up a bit with a touch more hp and all this for an affordable price too!
Im waiting for my DNA pods to show up and then Im going to have this upgrade done.

Man I love this bike!
