Idiot lights from newbonne

Woo-hoo! Just got my new, improved, brighter lights from newbonneville.

How long did they take you to install on your bike? I'll have an hour of daylight when I get home tonight to do the job - enough time? I am a SLOOOOW but steady with this kind of thing...

cheers all.

I followed the instructions and was finished before I knew it. It took 15-20 minutes. Did it after work before the sun went down. I had to wait a bit before I could check out the lights at night.

you need to make sure the are seated good, might have to spread the contacts a little to make them fit tight, they do look good, took me about 30 min. and i had to remove a windscreen, and you can see them in the daylight.

I've been leaning toward this mod and I think you have justt convinced me to add it to the Winter "to do" list.

Thanks for the posts guys.

You were right - took about 30 mins. Although they look great, disappointingly 1 of the 3 LEDs appeared to be damaged and is not functional - so I put the 2 working lights on the indicator and neutral lenses. I'll write to newbonne for their info but I don't expect a refund/replacement.

Fitment

pete_melbourne,

I just did my lights this last weekend, and I thought I had a couple of bad ones also until I discovered that the contact part is way thinner then the normal bulb and although Brent says in the instructions that you may need to spread the metal connector that they sit in, I found that I had to close them all in order to get good contact, once I did that they all worked a treat. I took a small screwdriver and pushed both sides in a little and then the new light fit snuggly and all worked.

Joe

Thanks for that - I'll give your trick a go, although the same LED didn't seem to work in any of the sockets.

I'm sure that NewBonneville will replace it for you, but it might be just as easy and not much more expensive to source an LED locally. You need the brightest 74-base red LED automotive replacement you can get that shines mostly up, i.e. narrow angle of illumination.

If it doesn't work, try reversing it in the socket; all the 74-base LEDs I know of are polarized. (Note that the turn signal light--only--requires a non-polarized LED. Polarized LEDs work fine in the other lights.)

Took me 3+ hours and only one LED worked. I tried closing the housing, went through each bulb to double check, took the one good LED and ran it to all three positions which it worked, and tried the two bad LEDs on all three positions and nothing worked. I figured that I would go through every possible calculation before saying it was bad. Now I spent over three hours and back to square one. I'm so tired of mail order...

all three of my bulbs are working, just spread the contact out till the bulb feels tight.
