Tank Badge Removal

I don't see any screws so I guess my badges are glued on.

Does anybody have any tips for getting them off? I would guess it is pretty strong glue

What bike/year? I highly doubt they're glued on...

Dental floss under the badge and sawing back and forth if you get what I mean

yeah i know exactly what you mean, thanks. If it's that simple I regret even asking the question.

I was just wondering if they were attached in such a way that would rip layers of paint off if I tried to do that. It's ok if I scratch the clear coat since I'm sanding it down anyway.

I am hoping that I do not have the screw holes underneath the badge. If so, I will have to figure out how to fill them in

My '09 Thruxton doesn't have screws, so it looks like they have gone to epoxy. You are probably looking at a paint job after you remove the badge, unless you are going to replace it with something that covers that area. When vandals tried to remove my car badge they left a lot of screwdriver nicks and half the badge still attached. The paint is probably already sanded in production to get better adhesion with the glue.

Well that went much smoother than I expected. Now I'm scared that mine will blow off.

It is cheap.

Not sure when they started glueing, but they did it, and I am guessing, to cut costs. '09's from what I have read/seen, do NOT have holes under the badges, whereas some of the other models ('08) have mounting holes for new badges under the glued on ones. Thing is, do you want to take the chance of removing glue, to find nothing but tank?

If you have screw holes, I might be interested in a tank swap. Then again, mine might have screw holes as well . . .lol
