Injector cleaner- yes or no?

Is it worth using fuel injector cleaner, or is it just expensive snake oil?

I've been dying to ask the same question...I use it regularly on my car but have never noticed any difference.

Interesting thread here about it. Seems that modern premium fuels already have cleaners in them making additives unneccessary.

Really only if you're having problems with clogged injectors. Found Chevron Techron to be the best all around cleaner for either carbs or injectors.

It does the job though only when there's problems afoot.

I was recently reading about a/f sensors and it was noted that some fuel additives contain metals which can "contaminate" sensors.

Every 1000 miles or so I use an additive to keep the injectors and the top end clean. Today most additives are safe for o2 sensors and so state on the bottle. I think of it as a once of prevention....

A few years ago my car was running a bit off, one tank of fuel + additive did the trick and made a beleiver out of me.

I have found that STP super concentrated in the black bottle works! About every 3 months i notice the cars power start to drop off a bit, in goes a bottle of STP and within a tank full of fuel it starts running alot better. I have tried other ones but nothing worked like STP where i could feel and here a difference. It worked on my Truck also. I have never had a FI bike so i cant speak for it in a bike. So no its not snake oil the STP works!!

Thanks for the input guys, this is my first injected bike, but I never even considered using a cleaner in any cars we have had. Perhaps I should give the car an occasional treat.

It seems to me that an occasional tank of high detergent fuel might be a good idea.

Inj cleaner

Hi
I was recommended by my Porsche dealer to run some through my car every month or so if i want to keep things tip top, so thats good enough for me.
Apparently the unleaded varnishes and gums everything up quite quickly especially if its used infrequently.

Cheers
Clive
