Scottoiler on an efi?
Can anyone advise me on the best way to connect the vacuum takeoff for a Scottoiler on an efi bike? I'm new to this efi stuff and I don't want to mess up.
Also, can I get the tank knee pads off without damaging the pait? TIA.

Rather than mess about with the vacuum fittings to the throttle bodies and risk upsetting the MAP sensors connected to what used to be the vacuum stubs I would consider the new Electronic Scottoiler. It uses an electro-magnetic piston pump to deliver the oil rather than engine vacuum. You can see it here:
http://www.scottoiler.com/esystem.asp
UK price is about £200. In the US it retails for about $325.
By all accounts the chains fitted to our Bonnies are of a very high quality and long lived, with minimum attention. It might not be worth it unless you do a lot of winter and wet weather riding.
If you go for the traditional system the fitting guide available here shows a blanked-off vacuum stub just under the throttle position potentiometer, on the left hand throttle body.

Thanks for that... wow that electronic version is spendy. I already have a spare vacuum one so I plan to fit that.
Whilst I was on the Scottoiler website I found this, it says there is a vacuum takeoff on the left throttle body, I have yet to check my bike to see if it's there, but if it is, I wonder why Triumph put it there?

Thanks Johnny, that vacuum point you found on the right throttle body looks to be in the same relative position as the one on the left throttle body that Scottoiler say to use, except the one on the left is easier to get to.

scott oiler
Hi Slinky ( or anyone else), Did you fit the Scott Oiler and if so where did you attach the vaccuum feed in the end?, the instructions you supplied from Scott oiler seemed pretty clear that the left side TB point should be used.
I'm coming from a shaftie BM to the Bonny so would like to continue being lazy and avoid regular chain maintenance,
Last time I had a bike with a chain (a bandit), I was sold on the scott oiler, as after I fitted it, not to mind cleaning, I never seemed to need to even adjust the chain again and it lasted twice as long.

I fitted on the left side TB, as per the instructions. The vacuum is very weak at that point (zero at idle) so it took a lot to get the oiler tuned in. In the end I had to remove the little spring that lives in the top of the Scottoiler.

I've got the instructions by email, but I had my Triumph dealer put mine on. Its been brilliant and no trouble.
I'm out now, but if you pm i'll email the photos I got from scottoiler.

Still trying to find the bloody email but what I do remember is that the scottoiler only drips oil when the bike is reving at idle it does not. This is for the EFI only.
