When is rejetting needed? Signs?
Im new to the Scrambler scene...so here is the scoop:
I have a 06 Scrambler, only performance mods done are the de baffled mufflers and AI removed. Cold start I need the choke half way, then quarter way for about 4 min before it can idle on its own. My question is, do I need to rejet? If im running too lean will it hurt in the long run? Im at about 500 ft above sea level for tech. detail.

I guess it would help to know the history of the bike. You say it was de-baffled. I assume this was by the previous owner, if so then do you know if he/she rejetted? The next thing is does it feel like it's not running right? I'm more familiar with the 360° bonnies. If it's really bugging you take it to a good tuner an have the air/fuel ratio tested throughout it's range. The tuner should be able to tell you if it needs to be rejetted. One of the seat of the pants test is to get up to 65-70 mph then WOT to about 80-90 then back off the gas a little. If it seems to accelerate a little when you back off then you may be running a little lean. I've never felt this phenomenom but heard it works.

No I did the de baffle myself, I purchased it with 700 miles. I have had it WOT at 90, but really wasnt paying attention to the throttle position vs. acceleration, taking it somewhere would be a good thing but I think it should be ok as is. Thanks.

Well if you de-baffled it and everything else is stock it would probably help to go up a few sizes in main jets. The Twin line is notoriously lean from the factory. When I de-baffled my bonnie and removed the snorkel, I went from 110 mains up to 115's and added a .5mm shim under the needle. The bike ran better and it got rid of the flat spot @ 45-50 mph in 5th. Do a search on jetting on this forum, there is tons of info for almost every set up.

You're still on break in, it only gets better. Has anything been done to the intake side? Snorkel removal, UNI filter, etc?
I think Derby Boy is pretty close to the mark on settings. I would add a 1/4 to 1/2 turn on the pilots. It should help the startup. If you haven't done the snorkel removal and stuck in a high flow filter, you might as well. Then jet it up and enjoy.

If you've only de-baffled, leave the jetting as standard. No need to rejet until you work on the inlet.
