False Neutrals

Have a 2010 Scrambler for one week. 200 miles on it. My first Triumph in 43 years of motorcycles. Loving it but I sometimes get false neutrals when down shifting from fourth to third and third to second. Is this common? Will it improve when I drain the breakin oil and replace with 4T?
Thanks,
Larry

Ive never had a false nuetral on my thruxton, but it had done 2k when I got it. Could be technique , possibly clutch or shift lever adjustment (is the shift lever position adjustable on a scrambler?) If it dosn't improve get the dealer to look at it at service time.

try adjusting the clutch cable. since the bike is new the clutch cable will stretch a bit in the first 500 miles. so will the throttle cable.

i'm pretty sure they dont have Mobil1 4T oil in from the factory. if i recall correctly is a different type of (possibly conventional) oil for the first 500 miles?

Yeah, that's my understanding also. Got to thinking about my false neutrals and realized it didn't happen in the first hundred miles. Adjusted the clutch cable last night. We'll see if it helps.

I've had my 07 bonnie for almost 18K miles since brand new and never found a false nuetral. These bike have such a positive shift that I don't think I could find one if I tried. If this persists you should see your dealer as something may be wrong in the shift linkage in the tranny. Try being more positive with your shifts, I've shifted with and without the clutch and it's always positive. I don't think a clutch adjustment will change anything.
As for the oil, I'm pretty sure that all motorcycle oil is 4T as it designates wet clutch use. The factory oil is usually a dino oil that is put in for breakin. At the 500 mi. service it's changed to Mobil 1 synthetic or equivelant.

Adjusted the clutch cable, repositioned the shift lever. 45 mile ride today with no false neutrals. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Sometimes it helps to be reminded of the obvious.
