2 Different Pipes Cause Problems?
I recently bought a used 2001 Bonneville from a local dealer. After I got it home and after reading tons of great information on this forum I noticed that my exhaust pipes are slightly different.
The left pipe seems to be the original with the baffle welded into a flat flange at the end. The right pipe seems to be the newer design with the rounded lip. I've removed the baffles from both pipes. The left one came out with the hole saw method and the right one I removed by cutting around the pipe and pulling the entire baffle/lip out.
I'm experiencing some rough low end and idle. I've done a carb sync and that helps but I'm still having some hesitation and occasional popping. It will sometimes lurch a bit before it gets really warmed up. At higher revs it runs great.
Should I have two matching pipes? Will different pipes cause the symptoms I'm having?
Still learning...TIA.
