I just drilled a hole in my oil pan, now what?
I had a K&N oil filter on my 08 Bonneville T100 and drilled a hole through it to get it off. At the same time I accidentally drilled a hole through my oil pan..........
The question is, How long can my bike be stored outside with a cover with no oil in it?
And two, can the oil pan be replaced through the bottom of the frame without taking the engine out?
I can't believe I did this, I don't have much dough so I am going to have to figure something out. I am going to call my dealer tomorrow to see what they say, but feel free to answer my questions if you know something.
I'm really dumb........

Pull the pan off, drill the hole a bit bigger, tap it with a pipe thread, and screw an appropriate pipe threaded screw into it, with teflon tape on it, to seal the hole up.
If it were me I'd buy a new oil pan, but that's me. If there's enough metal there, the screw thing will work.
Or - even better - since you have the pan off - take it to a good welder and have them weld it closed. There - that's a much better approach.
Stuff loads of oily rags up around the bottom and cover it with heavy duty plastic as tight as you can to keep the elements out, and put a big waterproof cover over it, you should be OK.
I can't remember whether the rails have to come off to get the oil pan off - I think they do.

I may try taking the pan off and taking it to a welder....... I will decide after I check with my dealership on what the outlandish cost will be to repair. I just saw a new oil pan on ebay for 75 bucks......Not sure if I should buy it.
Also, the Oil filter that i couldn't get off is still on it with two holes drilled into it. I guess I need to get that off and then put a new oil filter on it, then plug and tape the hole until I know what to do......
Anybody know if I can get the oil pan out between the bars of the frame?
Should I refill the engine with oil and just keep a pan underneath as the oil slowly leaks from the taped whole?

Sounds like Mike is gonna hook you up, but just thought I'd mention that I fixed an oil pan hole on a '77 Rabbit (my first car) with JB weld and a popsicle stick. It wasn't pretty but it worked.

J B Weld good stuff in a pinch
JB WELD is amazingly GOOD stuff, In my younger days fixed cracked race bike cases great
if HIS pan is off and he can find a welder I would weld it BUT if for some reason it's not weldable...JB inside and out...no one will see it anyway...
PS sorry I have to admit I laughed at first...but not at you, just the situation...
it will not hurt the bike to store without oil, just don't start it...

Chopsticks
PS
I find for delicate work like this repair requires the right tool like a pair of FREE chopsticks, or several chopsticks to apply the JB WELD...
that JB stuff I believe has over 5000 psi or some such strength to it...it is alot stronger than our cases I know that.
Don't let mike weld his initials or "mike was here" into the bottom of your case...

If he's gonna use JB, the better way would be to get a self threading machine screw of a size that will be tight and use a small washer on it and coat the threads and the sump side of the washer with JB. then drive it in with a power driver. But i took the sump off my speedmaster quite easily. Maybe it's harder on a bonnie, i dunno. If it were me i'd get a new one of have it welded for peace of mind if nothing else.
