3 degree timing advance
I've read a number of posts that mention doing a 3 degree timing advance. Can anyone point me towards more information on how this can be done and the benefits? I have an 04 Nissan Titan and I had the dealer do a 3 degree timing advance about a year ago. I was told to switch from unleaded regular to the mid grade unleaded, and my gas mileage went from 13.6 to around 15.5, with improved power. Since then I've put about 12,000 miles on the truck and it still gives me the better gas mileage, better power and no drawbacks that I've found. If I can do the same to my 08 America it would be great. (No I don't want to get 15.5 mpg with my America, haha, but I would like to improve the power and mileage).

IS YOUR BIKE EFI OR CARBS? If it has carbs you have to send your ingition box off and get it done.

Thanks in advance....Frank

That sounds way too pricey for what I want done. I don't need the rev limited increased, just the timing advanced by 3 or 3 degrees. It cost me $50 and took 10 minutes to have it done on my truck, so I'm reluctant to pay around $200 to have it done on my bike.

Then you can buy a Procomm unit, they're somewhat cheaper.

Ivar,
I guess I'll just have to keep looking because I shouldn't have to buy any unit. I should be able to have my timing changed on the ignition module that I already have.

you will find that performance parts/service for these bikes are not like cars and trucks.
Your ONLY option for changing your box is to have TPUSA reprogram it.
The procom boxes are a crapshoot and I wouldn't recommend them.

Procoms are indeed hit or miss. I got lucky and, other than the lack of a rev limiter (could be an upside I suppose), it has performed well. Now that I have slide carbs without TPS, I'm wonding if I lost the advantage over the procom that the pieman reprogramming bought me...
