A/I Delete Mod On A '02 Bonneville

All I've been able to find are info write-ups or references to the A/I removal on EFI Triumphs.

I have a plain 'ole '02 Bonneville, wanting to slow down header pipe discoloration. What about the A/I Delete Mod on this? Any re-jetting involved, or anything else that has to be done in conjunction with the Mod?

Thanks in advance ... it always takes a long time to train a "newbie," sorry.

Keep using the search function. Try using air injection removal, or just a combo of any similar words. I promise you won't find a shortage of threads that will help.

The Hayne's manual also really helps. Do you have this yet? If not you can order it from one of the usual vendors....newbonneville.com is where I got mine. Really is invaluable and would be very useful for this job.
By the way, you DO NOT need to rejet.

Here is a thread to help get you started:

And, if you decide to get the kit from newbonneville, it comes with instructions to help you

Good luck and cheers -

Thanks for the advice. You can see my predicament though, right? All references usually point to like a '07 and newer?

Indeed. But to be honest, I don't think there is going to be a major difference in parts between years. Therefore, I think you're going to find that what works for some of the later models will suffice for an 02.
By the way, do you have the Cali Evap system on your bike? If so, that is another piece you want to consider removing if not living in California. It looks like a large black canister attached to the underside of the bike with, I believe, 2-3 hoses running to it.
Again, in the Hayne's manual. But, I think you have to remove the Cali Evap system if you want to remove the AI - assuming you have both. If not, the AI takes about 30 min to do with the right tools.

AI removal should be the same for 2001 through about 2007. At some point in 2007 or 2008, the valve was changed from vacuum-operated to electrically-operated, but the procedure is still basically the same.

The easy way is to buy the kit. The cheap way is to follow the link above. Either will work fine, as many of us can attest.

Mine was electrically operated. I guess that's why I didn't find somewhere to put the little squirrel condom....I guess I'll donate it to the local rodent population and help humanity...

Yeah, I have an 08 and it was electrical. I used the directions that came with the A.I. removal kit for 01 through 07 and it was really easy. I could really feel the difference in heat coming from the bike after the A.I. was removed. Much cooler.
