Sixty8 Tank Covers
I would like to get a Sixty8 tank cover for my 2008 Scrambler but they say they are for 2007 and earlier models. What is the difference and is there one for my bike? Does anyone know? Thanks!

Bad News
They won't work on 08 and newer for a couple of reasons.....
1...the tank changed shape and size slightly
2...the covers are held on by the screw on tank badges....yours has stick on badges.
I believed they discontinued them for this reason....Sorry

If you do a search of "tank badge removal" or "08 tank badges", you will find some great information. I have an 08 Bonnie and also wanted some of the more classic offerings, like the "organ mouth" for one.
One of the members took off the stick on badges on his 08 Bonnie and found that the screw holes were indeed there. He then ordered the badges he wanted and installed them. He documented the whole thing with photos.
I am thinking of doing the same thing, but just have not gotten around to it yet. I am of the understanding that the 09 tanks don't still have the screw holes in the tank, but the 08 do have them, due to 08 being a transition year from carbs to fuel injection.

I was with one of our Triumph brothers last night, and he has an '08 T-100. He replaced his tank badges, and there definitely were screws. There was a big difference in the size of his badges, and those on my '02. His were much larger. From top to bottom of badge, his were about twice the size of mine.

Thanks, I just looked at that thread. A whole lot of info. So since I have a 2008 Scrambler, I should have screw holes under the stick on badge, right? Then once I switch to screw on badges can I use the tank cover. The tank shape is the same right?

I'm no expert, but from what I have gleaned reading about it I have come to this conclusion. On an 08 you can change to screw on tank badges that are designed to fit the Hinkley Bonnies (01-07).
Although the tank did get a bit larger in 08, it was not such a large change that would prohibit the aforementioned badge changes. I have not seen anything about the tank covers, which might be more of a problem.
Personally, I would go ahead and purchase the badges with confidence, should you find a set you like. I would not purchase a tank cover until I talk to someone who has actually installed a tank cover on an 08. Just my two cents.

I'm no expert either, but I've read that some of the 08's have the mounting threads under the stick on badge, and some have nothing. There's no way of knowing what you have unless you pull your badges off.

Good point, it may be a small gamble. I plan on buying a set of tank badges when I come across some that I like and then I may take the plunge.

It may be possible to stick a bit of wire through the filler cap and feel for the indentation is for the screw holes, my thinking is that the later models would have a smooth surface inside the tank, whereas the earlier models would have some sort of irregularity where the screws are. I would be interested to have the two side by side to to do a comparison..
