Bonneville Sick for the Summer
Have been having a problem with my 2005 T100, would run for a few seconds and cut out and would not start. Tried to diagnose the problem and changed the alternator pick-up coil, battery and plugs, still could not trace the problem. The bike went into the local Triumph dealer last week and have today been told that the CDI is causing the problems, this we suspected. Been told Triumph do not have any in stock, delivery is 2-8 weeks, how gutted can a man be.Wrote a letter Triumph during the week about the problems I have been having and although I recieved a sympathetic letter back it is obvious to me that they are not interested.
Did I do the right thing buying Triumph.

First off, Let me express my sympathy. I'd be shattered without my number one girl.
If you love the bike, then you did the right thing. I know these bikes are more like family than transport, but they are still machines and machines break. I would get on the phone, the net, friends, forums...etc. Comb the planet for that part. Maybe a Triumph dealer in Canada or the US could help? PM a part number and I will ask my dealer.

It looks like Bike Bandit thinks that the Thruxton and Bonnie CDI's are different... the page for the 2005 Bonnie lists these units, which is different from the Thruxton unit, listed below...
Bonnie, 2005:
7:
IGNITER, TWIN, 360, EVAP
SERIAL NUMBER 240521 AND HIGHER
5567503-001 Enter 0-99 $680.21
7:
IGNITER, 2CYL
SERIAL NUMBER 210261 AND BELOW
5567428-001 Enter 0-99 $606.77
Thrux, 2007:
5567501-001
IGNITER, 800RPM, EVAP CONTROL
Triumph 2007 THRUXTON 900 IGNITION SYSTEM
$499.73 $499.73 $499.73
So you may need to know your engine SN before ordering a CDI but they are out there, Triumph isn't the only source.
