07 bonneville center stand hits chain.

HI Umm bit new to this.
Got a problem fitting my 07 bonny with a center stand (Norman Hyde).
I have after market pipes on it a bit like a thruxton (upswept "Emgo?" got em on ebay)
Anyway went to fit stand and found the stand hits the chain.
Was checking to see if anyone else had this problem or could supply an answer?

On my T100, the left exhaust pipe has a flat bracket which stops the center stand retracting any further. You will need to fab a bracket that will stop the stand from retracting so far up. I think my center stand, when up, is just about flat with the ground. I don't know if there is another option - maybe a double S shape mounted on the pivot which contacted the vertical frame member and stood back into the travel of the stand would work.

I've looked at this as I've looked at aftermarket exhausts...

Had the same problem

I had the same problem when I fitted an arrow system to my Thruxton - not good news really, my dealer informed me after a few enquiries that the centre stand needs to be removed as it is not designed to fit with an aftermarket exhaust.

The only alternative as they saw it was to make up a bracket.

I now don't have it fitted

Regards Nick

I fitted a Scrambler exhaust to my T100 and had the same problem. Found a mod on here that worked great. If I can find it I'll post it, but maybe do a search and see what you come up with.

Found it, works great.

Hi, I had a similar problem with the OEM Triumph centerstand hitting my new 180 rear tire. I took an angle grinder and ground off the tiny portion of the foot (on both legs) that was hitting the widest edge of the tire as it was swinging past it.

I also put in a washer to eliminate the stand's side to side free-play so I know it won't move and rub the tire.

Pretty easy, and you can keep your stand! If you don't have an angle grinder, remove the stand and trim the area with a hacksaw, and file it smooth. Looks like a small trim is all that's needed by your photos.

Cheers!

You guys, the only thing that stops your center stand from smacking the chain is the STOPPER that is attached to the left hand side of your exhaust.

Do you have the rubber bumper in the metal "l" bracket that should come off your exhaust mount?

If you make that bracket long enough the center stand will hit it instead of the chain. There are many aftermarket exhausts that dont seem to come with this so you may have to fab up a piece of aluminum to come down and stop the center stand. Where does your normal stand hit? The center stand should hit the same place.

Just passing it on, Inominate was good enough to pass Loxpump's mod on to me when I was in your situation, seems to be the way it works on here.
I see that you are in Queensland, I have an ex-mother-in-law there. I hope you never run into her, there's a reason I live where it gets COLD in winter

Thumbs up Stand

Easy fix! Sell center stand on E-Bay & get a paddock stand instead? Will maybe have enuff left for a lift? The MOST valuable tool I have for my Bonne!! Think of the better looks & the weight loss!
