I need a hand in Salt Lake City!

Hey, guys!

I'm bringing an '07 Thruxton I bought in Texas back to Utah. I'm doing the airbox, AI, and pipes right after I get back. I can put it all back together, but re-jetting it something I know very little about.

Would anybody be willing to meet up and help me out. I can provide lunch, beer, and money if you're looking for a few extra bucks. I get back the 2nd of July and should have it all put together within a few hours.

I just need to figure out a way to be up and rolling for the 4th (Oh, come on, you know you like to look cool, too!) without taking it to Accolade or whatever they're called now.

I would appreciate any help or feedback! Can't tell you how thankful I'd be.

I live in Roy UT. However I can't make any promises as to whether I will be in the area on that weekend. We usually try to get out of town. I have done everything on your list except for the Airbox removal.
Pipes - I have not swapped, but I have removed and replaced them. Pretty much has simple as it looks. However, Aftermarket pipes may require some extra monkeying with to line things up.
AI - Did that the night I brought it home (from Triumph of Salt Lake, which is their name now). Easy stuff, once you look at it for a couple minutes, it will all make sense.
Re-jet - I've never jetted anything in my life before this bike. Mine went off without a hitch. Look through some of the sticky's in the tech section, there are plenty of good pics and procedures out there.
As for the air box, I would set aside a lot of time, as it's very labor intensive. I only removed the restrictor plate and it was time consuming. I tend to keep everything I remove for possible future need. Large PITA. If you plan on hacking it to pieces, disregard.
Recommendations:
Get a Haynes manual or Triumph Shop Manual.
For the re-jet - Purchase a set of the allen head replacement screws from the vendor of your choice You will probably not wish to reuse the stock phillips screws once you remove them. I seriously would not consider doing the re-jet without the replacement screws, odds are that you will damage at least one of them during removal. They look nicer as well.
I don't know your tool situation, but if you don't have them already, get a quality set of metric allen wrenches (ball tip HIGHLY recommended), stubby and offset phillips screwdriver.
High temp RTV for the pipes.
AI Removal - I recommend an Offset box end wrench (12 or 13 mm IIRC) if you can, A standard box end will work, just be careful.

These bikes are very easy to work with with a moderate amount of mechanical ability. I would rather work on a Triumph twin than anything else I have worked on. Easy access and few surprises.

Thanks, guys.

I'm just real iffy about running too lean and burning something up. I've already put too many zero's into this project to # it up on the funnest day of the year. I think I'm going with the RAASKS and I can't find anybody who is running that set up so I can copy the jet sizes.

I'll check out the stickies! And I could probably just buy lunch and beer if dudes want to hang out and be no use to anybody. Holiday spirit and whatnot.

Sounds personal.

And rejetting looks like a total pain in the ass. I guess a half hour and a few cuss words never hurt anybody.

Never watched The Little Rascals?
I changed jets with the carburetors on: removed float bowl, unscrewed jet holder with a box wrench, put jet holder in vise, removed jet, put in new jet, put all back. Hardest part was threading out the stock phillips head screws on float bowel as they were hard to reach with my big paws and tiny screwdriver, LOL, but are now replaced with allen heads. You'll find someone to help you out, I am sure.

Alright, I have another quick question. I just talked to the guy who sells the RAASK pipes I'm looking at, and he kind of seemed real "whatever" about re-jetting if I put them on. He said I didn't need to unless I was at a high elevation and he said he hadn't heard of any recommendations. I'm at 4,500' give or take.

Anybody have some of that infinite rat wisdom?

Beyond the cosmetic advantages of the Raask pipes, do they flow dramatically better than stock? If so, you may need to jet up accordingly, depending on the mufflers they are bolted to. I know of them, just not much more. I would have a word with one of the other vendors you used. If you ordered anything from Triumph performance or Bella Corse, or any number of other vendors, they should be able to to give you an educated opinion for expected jetting. Some conventional wisdom says that you can go 1 size smaller per every 3000 to 4000 feet. I'm no expert on this, so YMMV. I have a friend in Cedar city with similar jetting issues, he's at 5800 feet. Unfortunately you may need to engage in some trial and error to find what works for you.
