question about Nology Spark Plug Wire

hello,
can someone enlighten me as to what these actually do, and what are realistic benefits that can be expected? i was at a bike store today with my buddy who rides a suzuki SV650, and he was basically asking the guy there (we're both fairly new to riding) what would be a good, cheap mod, to gain a couple horses....and the guy suggested him a nology spark plug wire and he bought it. we're going to install it tomorrow, and i've seen these on BC for the bonnie, but i'm kinda skeptical about really gaining anything by using this? anyone have any insights, or websites they can point me to before i dumph 72 bucks on a wire? lol....

thanks!

I used to work for a spark plug/wire manufacturing company repping the product and yeah, all the hype about plug wires is pretty much garbage. You want a good set that won't break down, that are as wide as possible but in the end the wires are a resistor to keep rfi down so they have to have a set resistance to do that.

Odd isn't it? The wires which deliver the current to the plugs act as a resistor to stop rfi along with another resistor in the plug itself and yet the whole point in those pieces is to deliver the spark to ignite the fuel.....
