Dunlop RoadSmart radials.......
Hi all, recently fitted a 110/80-18 Dunlop RoadSmart radial front tire on my Thrux, this tire is the grippiest and most responsive front I have fitted so far. Compared to other 110/80 fronts I have fitted, like the Mich Pilot Road, Mich Pilot Road 2 and Bridgy BT20, the Dunlop looks smaller in diameter and narrower on the rim. Now this tire is fantastic under brakes and easily changes line mid corner when required but the high speed stability is woefull especially in a straight line when aproaching 100mph(160km/h). I am sure glad i have a NH steering damper.
Now have done 1000km on this tire, today I put the forks back to their original position as they were dropped 20mm through the triple clamps. This has stemmed the nervousness of this tire but has not got rid of its tendency to headshake completley, have dialled in more steering damper than any other front, maybe the worn 140/80-17 Metzler Marathon with 7000 km on it, with 1K to 2k wear still left on it, mght have something to do with it. Run 36psi front and rear pressures with the Dunlop and Metzler. Maybe the rear stock shocks are shot, have 60,000kms on them??
Cheers..............Agro
