MPG After BC Basic Performance Package
Alright fellow Ratters, I'm considering The BC basic performance package as was wondering what your fuel economy was after the upgrade. I'm currently getting 43 mpg as long as I dont go over 65-70 in stock trim. I'd like to have the extra performance and sound but don't want my gas mileage to go to hell. I know most of you here already have the airbox elim, AI removed, exhaust, and re-jetted. So plz post your mileage running between 60-70 MPH. I know it's hard to stay out of the throttle. I have 130 mile round trip ride to work and don't want to run out of fuel. I have 35 miles rural two lane and 35 expressway. Plus I work afternoons and there are no open gas stations once I hit the e-way, so I have approximately 110 miles of nothing but scanning for drunks and deer. Any input would be greatly appreciated. My bike is a 07 Bonnie Black with carb. Thxs in advance.

I have an 07 thruxton. The BC preds and airbox were taken care of before I picked up the bike. So I can't say what I would have gotten before the mods. However, I've gotten anywhere from 95 miles to 120 miles on a full tank until reserve. I think I average close to 105 miles. I guess it depends on how full the tank actually gets on each fill-up and how hard I ride. I think that calculates to about 35 mpg at best. I think everyone with the same setup is getting a very diverse range of numbers... so I wouldn't be surprised if your numbers were better than mine AFTER mods.

I won't know the answer for at least another 6 weeks yet
Damn winter. From what I have read, once properly set up your MPG should not change much, I have seen plenty of reports of 40mpg plus with that and similar packages. I say go get it and have fun.

I get around 40 with 1/2 freeway and 1/2 city driving. I don't go over 4500 RPMs, I try and keep it between 3500 and 4000 most of the time. That package came with a new sprocket, you might want to get a 19T like I did, it helps.

You guys are getting some poor mileage, my 08 America has TOR's, AI delete installed and tuned at the dealer when new.
Most of the time I have been getting 53 mpg, have never hit reserve and have always refueled before 200 miles. Longest I have gone is 193 miles before fillup.
Now I'll admit i'm not a big fan of highways and try to avoid them when i can, but almost always have the wife on the back and much of the time a big bag of luggage on the rack too.
Have about 8k miles so far since june of 08.
I do not understand why such a difference in mileage between the same engines but i guess i should be pretty thankful.

Even with TORs, you will see more MPG than those with who've eliminated their airboxes & more aggressively opened up their pipes...more air/fuel through the system = more power.
That extra power isn't free, so you burn more gas most of the time and, since tapping that power is the fun part, you tend to lead with your right hand more than you would with a more passive machine.
Prior to me sorting out the jetting, my thruxton had been fitted with 160 mains and 2 shims...I was getting 28 mpg, so my near 40 mpg now seems fugile. I guess we're all blessed.
Cheers,
--Rich

RE: MPG After BC Basic Performance Package
I bought mine with the same mods. During the break-in period I got 50-55. Since then it has gone down to from 35-40. Once even 27! I know the exact cause, my right hand. Depending on your state of mind, MPG is inversely proportional to fun.
