What Joe said, but I will add that for various reasons one can get some oil out of the crankcase vent. With the airbox in place when this happens, one will find the oil pooling in the airbox or draining out of the airbox drain--if it is not stopped up. Without the airbox, one can get some oil out of the small filter when this happens, so depending on where you locate the filter you can have an oil mess. Some have put an oil catch can in conjunction with the crankcase vent filter.
