Back in the Saddle..
Was a avid rider in my youth... started on a Honda 70 Scrambler, grew to Kawasaki 400, to a Honda 750( Four), to a Honda 900, to a Goldwing... that was between 15 to 22...and 30 years ago...
got married, left the bikes... two kids, mortgage, kids are now teens, wife is gone (still alive, lol)... bikes are back. wandered into a Triumph/BMW dealership... walked out with a Bonneville T100 a month ago. 1600 miles later, wish I'd dumped the wife earlier (J/k)...

Congrats on the new T100. A lot of us have similar stories of riding motorcycles in our youth then giving them up temporarily to raise a family. Unfortunately for me, when I decided to get back on two wheels it took me a couple of tries before I got it right. So I admire your game... you hit a homerun with the T100 on your first pitch back in the game.
Hey, I see that you live in SA. I live just down I-10 from you, in Seguin. Maybe we should get together one of the days and go ride some twisties around the hill country. I still have my old lady. But after 28 years, she doesn't tend put her foot down very often these days.

Similar story here. Got a motorcycle license at 15 before I had even learned to drive a car (bike had to be no more than 5hp). Rode a '70 Suzuki AC50. Then got a '72 Suzuki 250 Hustler a couple of years later, but some idiot pulled out in front of me and sent me to the hospital for a month with a broken femur. Took about a year to recover full use of my leg, but I was undaunted and got a '75 Suzuki T500 when I was 20, followed six years later by an '81 Kawasaki KZ1300 (the monster six-cylinder). During most of this period, a bike was my sole means of transportation.
After the Kawi, I got into fast cars and never bought another bike until this year, when I made up a bit for lost time by buying two bikes in one month. I had to climb over a pretty tall "wife wall," to do this, but after a couple of years of hinting that I was thinking of geting back to my roots, I finally wore her down.
I stayed true to my roots, too. I wanted to own and ride bikes that I had grown up with and liked. I had always loved the styling and undeniable character of British bikes, so I got modern versions of these and I couldn't be happier. I should have done this years ago, as I've really missed the joys of riding, and I plan to spend time on two wheels for the rest of my life or until I'm too weak to swing my leg over the saddle, Lord willing.

Welcome back. Very nice looking bike. Did you swap the bars out? If so, what are they?

What led you to Triumph? I rode Japanese in high school but there were a few brats at our school with Norton, Triumph and BSAs. I was always jealous. When I was ready to get back into riding and ready for another Harley, one of my buddies suggested I check out Triumph. Very glad he pointed me their way.
I was happy to see a Triumph shop open in San Antonio. I assume thats the dealership you worked with? What'd you think of the shop? The Austin group has been meaning to make a ride through AF1 Racing and then to that shop, but it hasn't been scheduled yet.
Nice pick. Enjoy.

Grew up in Austin, the dealership at the time was "Krums" I think, off barton Springs road. They always had triumphs and Nortons... just could not afford them at the time. Almost bought a honda this time..but it just did not feel right... then I saw the bonneville... thats the bike style I grew up with... and it was a natural fit.. also turned out I knew the wife of the dealer...
Nice shop.... they have kart racing too..
bring your RAT friends from Austin and we'll take a Tarply ride...
