Triumphs and very hot weather?

Hi all, new to forum but have been thinking about getting a Speedmaster for a long time. Such a beautiful bike!

But here is my main concern with it. Will it overheat in 100-115 degree weather like Harley's do??

I currently ride a Kawi Vulcan which is water cooled and it has no problem with overheating here in Las Vegas. In fact, most the Harley riders I know simply refuse to ride their bikes in July/August because they are air-cooled and overheat.

Please enlighten me on if the Speedmaster can handle the heat here in the desert! Have talked to a mechanic here who says Triumphs handle the heat alot better than a Harley. What say you?

I ride a Scrambler here in the Phoenix area and have had no problems with it. You might notice a very slight power loss but that is about it. The bikes are solid.

Air cooled V-Twins get little relief (Air) on the back jug already, so when the temps go up its a very bad for the engine.

Our parallel twins get air equally all the time so is much better.

I think you would be fine with a SM in your climate but would still want to try not to sit at idle for long periods when its over 100 degrees out.

WCLV,

Get it! I, as well about 30 Triumph owners I know and countless others ride here in the desert southwest! No problem!

I rode from the L.A. area over the cajon pass in the middle of summer all the way to barstow and for most of the way kept the bike at 90-95 without a hitch. It may not have been 115, but it was burning hot and the bike ran perfect. I nearly died tho !

The Triumph vertical twins are fairly cold-blooded creatures and like to be warm.
My Speedmaster seemed to actually enjoy running in hot weather and would rise to the occasion.

Thumbs up Heat

I have seen many a dead HD myself in the hot weather!! Espec in trffic! YThe Bonne motors have a seperate oil pump just to pump oil thru the cooler. I had to sit in 40 min traffic on TFT run & the HD' dropped like flys!! Our 3 Bonne's did just fine tho I must admit I was worried!!

some like it hot

I have a Scrambler and live in the desert in New Mexico. I commute almost everyday on the bike. It's about 30 miles with a lot of stop and go in the city with temps. up in the 90's - 100. The bike handles it just fine. Myself on the other hand, I have a natural built in evaporative cooler or maybe it's just sweat. Keep yourself hydrated and it will be fine. The bike can probably take the heat better than we can.
