inspection sticker

Where did you put the inspection sticker on a bonnie?

I got an inspection and the guy just put the sticker on my fork. It's an eyesore so I want to avoid putting it there next time around.

Triumph has it's sticker on the inside of the left fork tube down by the brake -- just about invisible until you look for it.

My Suzuki has it on the inside of the left fork tube up by the triple tree. Not quite as "invisible", but not unsightly either.

Most of the guys doing the inspections here in Missouri will ask where you want it placed, and will go along as long as it's more or less legal.

Sorry, no pictures -- the stickers were tucked away well enough that the autofocus picked up something else and all I got was blurs!

I wish I asked this question before I actually got the inspection.

The guy did ask me where I wanted it, but I couldn't figure out a good, and legal, place so the sticker went on the fork. Oh well..next time I'll know better.

I bought an aluminum plate from some custom builder who had a shop on the side of a highway near Richmond, VA. Happened that I was in the area needing an inspection and didn't want them to stick it on the forks. This thing is probably 1/8" thick and shaped about the size of a VA inspection sticker, w/ one edge tapering out enough for the mounting hole. I think the guy charged me about $6.

I slapped the sticker on there, removed the right / front bolt from the front mudguard, and just mounted it (using Locktite on the bolt) so that it hangs from that bolt, just inside and in front of the right-side downtube. It's pretty inconspicuous there but visible enough so the po-po can see it w/o having to pull you over.

I think most shops have these plates - you just have to ask.

We don't need to attatch them to the bike so I carry mine along with registration and insurance card in the lic. plate box.

When I read your post, it brought back memories of government-intensive Pennsylvania, with the inspection stickers glued to the fork tubes. (Actually, I liked riding in PA, just didn't like where they stuck the stickers).

Bob

Note: Anyone from PA that can discuss their T-Tag Services? Totally blew my mind! OK, so the State could not get me my permanent license sticker .... but a T-Tag service could?? Maybe those are ghosts from the 1980's and don't exist now.

I put my Property Owners Association sticker on the back of the left side mirror. It's still kind of ugly but at least I know I can make the bike perfect again if I need to by getting a new mirror if I can't get it clean.

I had mine on the dealer license plate frame which had an area to attached the inspection sticker. I later remove the plastic frame, cut out the portion of the frame with the sticker and attached it (not permanently) under my seat. I did it on both my bikes. May not be legal but I am ready to play dumb if stopped and tell them that it broke off and I put it there for safe keeping...

PS: I asked a fellow rider who works as a policemen and he said they would rarely give you a ticket for not properly displaying the inspection... but still a risk.
