Trade or Keep?
I've had the bonnie for just over 3 years now. Probably for the last year or so I've been debating whether I should keep the bonnie or trade up to a Street Triple or Speed Triple.
I was leaning to the Street Triple until MCN reported the problems with ergos, suspension and fueling. The Speed Triple is probably just an accident waiting to happen.
Then on my home on the bonnie last night I bungy-ed on a full Indian take out meal for the wife and I. I find that I'm regularly using that big flat saddle As far as I can see, only the bonnie has such a wide seat.
And that pretty much cinched it.
I'm going to keep the bonnie and just kick it up a notch. Yesterday I ordered up the ikons. Later in the summer I'll probably go for the Dominators, M-Bars and rearsets. Maybe even a NARK and FEK at some point.
How do the rest of you feel about trading or keeping?

For a while I was considering the same two bikes as an addition (not replacement) for my Scrambler. That was until I test rode the Street. IMO, the Bonnie line is perfect for my type of riding and my area. I don't know when I would really use any more power. The Scram is already quick enough to launch for any practical riding. I don't have any trouble passing on the highway. With moderate suspension & tires upgrade, it handles great on all the roads around here.
With either the Street or Speed, I would rarely use even 3/4 of its power, and like you said, more likely to have an accident (or get tickets). I suppose if there were more twistys around here something like the Street might make sense, but otherwise it's more fun to ride the Scrambler at 80% than to ride a more powerful bike at 60%.

Not sure the Street Triple is as bad as you imply. I think fricken rocks would be the term to use.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the Street Triple, just for the riding I typically do I don't think I would see any practical benefit from the additional HP.

Keep it.
In life, with the exception of wives and/or girlfriends, two is always better than one.

mikeinva and bottle_fed both ran the 42s on stock 790 bonnies and loved 'em. No one that has owned or ridden a bonnie with them installed has anything other than great things to say. Another benefit of the carbs is the instant throttle response. Sometimes I think I enjoy that as much as the added hp.
