My wife and I would like a heavier bike for long trips, I don't want a Harley and the Rocket is waaaay too much, so sign me up for the Thunderbird

My wife and I would like a heavier bike for long trips too. I love Triumphs but the Rocket is definitely too much, and I don't care for cruiser in the least. So as it stands today, the Honda ST1300 is at the top of my short list. Since it will be two or three years until I'm ready to take the plunge, I'm hopeful that Triumph will design several different motorcycles with this new power plant.

Now THAT's...
...a Big Twin! I might consider one with that displacement if it looked like that photo.

Loose the forward controls, reduce the rake so it handles and I would consider it. Until then, I'm saving for an RT or Boxer Cup Replica.

My vote. NOT interested! Nope.Nada.Njet. I think factory has idiots in the designing part of the factory. Or blind.

Actually, they tried it out on focus groups of American bikers and incorporated everything they suggested, and-- oh wait, that's still basically the same as what you said.

No interest ...
... in anything over 1000cc. I personally don't care for big bikes.

I've been following the new 1600 for some time now, and since the "new" T-Bird was announced Sunday (and this is a very un-scientific analysis), it looks like almost all of the America/Speedmaster riders here pretty much like the new cruiser. Maybe a little bland in styling, but they like it. All the Sportbike/S3/Sprint/Tiger/old school bonnies, etc people hate it. I like it myself. The sheer fact that it's a Triumph - the only significant vertical twin cruiser out there - is good enough for me. 100 BHP on a cruiser? Hells yeah! I'll make some mods when I get one anyway, right?
Just a thought. Not to offend anyone, but if you haven't been a cruiser rider, it's kinda like Helen Keller complaining about the music being too loud. Take heart - maybe Triumph will listen to you guys next and generate a quirky whatever-it-is-you're-looking-for bike. They've been pretty good to us since Mr. Bloor took over the reins.

I'd much rather ride a Tiger than a 1300 Honda. My bud has the Honda-nice bike-but the Tiger is a Triumph and that's a bit unique, and I like that.
Not sure why some dislike cruisers so much-I have both-a Bonnie and America and gotta say I like them both equal. Don't handle well? I, among others, followed a ex road racer-he was on a small jap cruiser and EVERYBODY was way behind him. Seemed to handle OK for him.
