Factory Hand Striped Gas Tanks..
My new 08 America has hand painted stripes on the fuel tank and the the initials of the craftsman by the bolt under the seat.
I have not heard any mention of this on here and was wondering how long Triumph has been doing this and what models have it?
Does anybody know?

There was a long thread on this subject about 2.5 years ago. I believe this has been the practice on the new Bonneville line since they began the pen-striping.

Also has been around for the early Hinckleys as well as all of the Meriden bikes (as far as I know) since Triumph began.

That's my understanding too - when I went for an interview at the factory (they wisely did not hire me) they were just starting the thunderbirds, and had hird and ex Meriden chap to do the pinstriping, since it is somewhat of an art and they couldn't find anyone else capable of it. That's what they told us on the factory tour bit anyway.
I guess he has taught and trained a whole new generation of pinstripers.

And I thought my bike was special lol.
I think it is a nice touch that they do that.

Picking my new T100 up next week, would prefer Gloss to Matt finish though.

A very nice touch and something you don't see too much of anymore. My original-paint BMW R27 is initialed under the tank and inside the front fender.
