Just want to check in and say hello to everyone on the list. I just completed the Ohio MSF Course and would like to get a motorcycle.
I'm trying to decide between a Speedmaster and the Bonneville. I get lower back pain after a couple of hours of riding and from some of the things I've read here I think I might want to go with the Bonneville. I have to say I really like the Bonneville Black...lots of cool pics here!
My current ride is the Vespa GTS 250cc.
Thanks...

Welcome bobg, I have a bad back and the Bonnie's upright position is much more comfortable for me. Don't get the Bonnie if you don't want people drooling over your bike. You'll waste a lot of time a gas stations talking about the old 69 that looks just like your bike.

I can't comment on the speedmaster since I have not ridden one, but the Bonneville is a great ride. I certainly have no back problems riding it, and can ride all day.

It's an easy, straightforward and thoroughly enjoyable bike to ride.

Have fun, whichever one you choose, and welcome to the forum.

Welcome

Having spent a little time on cruisers I found that I couldn't shift my weight around like I can on the bonnie.

I can move around on the seat, put weight on the pegs, lean forward and back, and even use the pillion pegs to lean forward at speed.

I went for a ride with a buddy on his dyna glide, from Calgary to Golden BC (300km) He was in so much pain he begged to switch bikes at Lake Louise. By the time I got to Golden, on his bike, I vowed never to get a Harley, and his wasn't even that extreme a cruising position.

If you have a bad back - and I do, a hentiated disk, get the bonnie.

Welcome

Welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of information here.

I found that handlebar spacers from newbonneville made me more

comfortable on my bonnie. You don't mention your size, but

I am 5'7" with short arms and legs. Whatever you decide, enjoy.

Clyde

Thanks guys that's good to hear, not about your bad backs and all, but how the Bonnie is so comfortable. And Clyde I too am 5'7'' with a 28" inseam, so it sounds like the Bonneville might work well for me. We have a Triumph dealer not to far from where I live... I'm going to check them out.
Thanks
