Scrambler panniers - help

Hi

I'm after some paniers for the scrambler, i dont really want anything permanent with brackets etc if poss, or the big enduro jobs.

I tried some oxford sports type throw overs but they looked too close to the unshielded top of the silencer. I guess my only option would be to make a heat shield = faff and ugly bits

So does anyone have experience of paniers that fit & wont get melted!

Cheers
Clive

Consider just using a single pannier on the left side.

I have a good sized Moto-Pak tank bag that I put on the seat and three loop and ball type bungees. bungee the single snap to the muffler mount and on the other side just put the bungees around the sub frame. Easy on and off, carries about as much as one saddlebag. Sorry but I don't have any pics.
Can't carry a passenger but otherwise works fairly well.

+1 on the tail bag. It seems that when I used soft saddlebags the handling was not good so I stack my packs behind me. If you want to use saddlebags you can buy the Triumph number plates and you can rest your bags on those, I fabricated a 1" wide piece of aluminum and used 1" spacers and attached it over the heatshields for a rest, on the left side I bent a 1" piece of alum and attached it under the seat then hand bent it over the frame and into an arc to catch the back of the saddlebag, drill it to match the fender bolts and that can act as a rest on that side. The alum was 1"x1/8" and you can hand bend it to fit, lightly sanded they actually looked pretty good, and don't really stand out.

You can fab your own brackets as some have done....or....go here:

This is the only throw over solution I've seen and it looks good...just uses the optional number boards left and right.

Weight on the tail

+1 more on putting the weight behind you. This solved my "where do I put all my stuff" problem. These trunks are on ebay, works well with the single seat. The tanks bag is nice for the wallet, keys, disclock, sunglasses, etc.

Maybe like this? Pricey, but well built and cool.

Check my picture in "Post Scrambler Photos" and you'll see my set up. Ventura rack and pack (great) and Cortech panniers (also great). To avoid the dreaded Silencer roaster, just buy the cheesy Triumph number plate kit. 4,000+ miles all over 7 western states with no (zero, zip, none, nada) problems.
