Will it run forever?
My 2003 T100 just turned 29,000 miles, and she runs better than ever. The only major stuff done has been to replace brake pads and sprockets and chain. (Of course I've done the valve clearance stuff, too)
I also own an older BMW, a 1991 R100GS, that has been a faithful old mule for 17 years. I have to admit, she hasn't been trouble-free, as I've personally pulled the tranny twice so the mechanic could replace the rear main bearing and seal. The bike now has 112,000 miles on the odometer. But like a Gravely Lawn Tractor, this old gal will run as long as I want to throw a few bucks at her!
I'm wondering if the Triumph will simply continue to run, with nothing other than an occasional chain and sprocket change, plus a few brake pad changes, along with routine maintenance?
So far, the T100 is one reliable bike! Does anyone have a Bonnie with 50, 60, 70k miles on the odometer? That'd help me make a judgement call as to whether the Bonnie might make it to 100K with few or no mechanical issues.
Bob

Bob, I've read of the bonnies being sound reliable bikes with plenty of miles on the clock, my mates America has over 50,000 miles with no problems. Im also hoping my America stays as reliable as that, give me a few years and I hope to be telling people on here about how they can do 100,000 miles!
Ben

I think in 5 0r 10 years when our bikes have clocked up big mileage we will be able to comment on durability. 100k should be a good judgement point. As for pulling Trannies, I had a bad experience last week.[I should have noticed the Adams Apple]

Mileage
Over on the New Triumph Bonneville Forum CC Rider has 88,000 + miles on an 01, quite a few other riders have 50,000-60,000 with no issues except maybe a coil, sidestand switch and just normal maint. such as brake pads. My 03 T100 I bought used has never hiccuped(spl).

Maybe a new timing chain around 80k. I expect a rider who is satisfied with the stock engine and does routine care will see 100k without much beyond normal wear and tear.
