Summer Screen vs. Roadster Screen?
Trying to figure out which OEM screen would be best for our 08 America.
I have been searching for pics of riders on their bikes with either of these screens but have not had much luck.
The wife and I wear half helmets and need some wind protection for our faces.
Think the summer screen might look better but not sure if the wind would go over my head.
Any thoughts, pictures or measurements would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't use any screen. I had a summer screen on my Thunderbird Sport and all it did was toss my head back and forth. The buffeting sucked. It also deflected the wind directly into my eyes, so I had to wear goggles instead of glasses.
I just finished a 1,400 mile trip on my America with no screen and wearing a half helmet or no helmet, and I didn't notice any problems.
I guess if you need a screen to protect your face then you should go with a full screen. I think they look ugly, but it would do the best job for you.

I have also been considering a screen, leaning towards the summer screen but have concerns about the buffeting.
Any others with screens? Yea or Nay?
While riding without a screen for an hour or more I feel ok, until I get off. The wind beats me down and it takes a few minutes to recoupe. This fall we're thinking of a road trip to the Outerbanks in NC. This is a 7 hour ride each way. Buffeting isn't an option.

I am 5'9" and have the roadster screen. I look over the top of it and have no problems with buffeting etc. I like the protection from vehicles kicking up rocks and the like. I find myself ducking slightly as I go by big rigs. It works great in the winter when I come home from work at 1am. It does get down to 32 in Dec Jan. This screen is 16" from the cut out to the top. I like the summer screen too, maybe later, other things to buy first.
After this ride, we added a Switch blade 15" screen to the Vstar, will post a picture later as a comparison. I don't like the 20" screens, way too tall.

Thanks Ray, The picture and measurement really helps, I was worried about how the roadster would look on our bikes without the driving lights and all, but it looks nice.
Now all I need is a measurment and pic of someone riding with the summer sreen.
and thanks for your advice on the other thread.. we are right in love with the new bike, do not miss the M109R at all.
Is "Triumph" etched into the screens or are they stickers?

Here is the Switchblade Chopped 15", I like the look of it. But as fas as I know, they don't have one for the America. There is a one inch Triumph logo etched in the bottom right and a 5" Triumph sticker above the cut out.

My friend and I both have 2007 Americas. I went with the Roadster Screen while my friend went with the Summer Screen. I don't have an issue with buffeting and even leave the visor on my full face screen up on the freeway without any issues (I just wear my desert shades). My friend is constantly getting pummeled with bugs that seem to pass by me. His wife insisted on the summer screen for him...as did mine...except I did not listen...and he wishes he had not as well. Admittedly, his bike is a bit sportier...but I'll opt for function...and I like the look with the light bar. I'm not at home to upload the pics but you can take a look in my wife's gallery located at http://www.afragmentintime.com (gallery button is on the 3rd clickable photo on the right hand side) and see the screens on both bikes.

I've got the summer screen on my '07 Bonnie. I'm 5'9", and I have no buffeting issues. The screen does exactly what it's supposed to do: 1) keeps the wind off me 2) sends bugs up and over via the wind shear the screen creates 3) allows me to look over the screen v. thru the screen.

I know you're talking about OEM windscreens, but have you looked at the National Cycle screens? They're half the price and look/work just as good. Just sayin'

To be fair I've haven't rode my friends bike with the summer screen so I can't really make a good comparison. I do, however, have no issues looking over my Roadster Screen and in the event I ever decide to install a standard windshield bag I'm all set.
