Earlier there was a discussion about how to carry a rifle on a Bonnie without drawing attention. Yesterday I tested the soft sided guitar case method (they strap onto you like a packsack) with a heavy barrel Ruger 10-22 (Pretty heavy gun).
It worked great on a 200km return trip journey. I left the pack straps just loose enough that most of the weight actually sat on the seat behind me. There was zero wind buffeting and only a moderate increase in wind drag trying to pull my hands off the bars.
In the bottom of the bag I had a 2nd smaller range bag with my ammo, clips, ear defenders and glasses and some water.
It would be too short a case for any shotguns that do not "take-down" but any shorty toys work just fine.
Remember guys, the last thread like this ended in a big discussion on rights and freedoms. This thread is simply a report on how I comfortably rode 200km with a rifle on my back without anyone needing to know that I rode 200km with a rifle on my back.
