Cool! California is such a "no no" state.

I just gas it and say "later" when possible. If not I turn look at em for a few seconds and then flip em the bird.

I had a GS BMW a while back. When riding the highway at night I'd bury the centerstand into the tarmac. Great fireworks show at night and people back off real quick. During the day you just get debris tossed at ya.

Yeah me too. Sometimes I curse scream and make terroristic threats all while giving them the finger! Then when i get home I kick the dog and punch the ol'lady in the face!

Reverse Pass

Usually just a wave will get someone's attention and they'll back off. But once I was on a narrow two lane road in a rural area, this large truck pulled up behind me too close (not an 18 wheeler, but almost as large). I was going a little over the speed limit and though he had plenty of straight road to pass, he didn't. I waved at him to back off, and he did for a minute, but soon he was right back on me. I waved and he backed off a couple more times, but he was always riding my tail again after a minute or two. Since there was no good spot to pull off the road, I just waited for the next clear stretch of straight road, swung out into the other lane, slammed on my brakes, and he shot right past me, then I swung back into the proper lane behind him. I slowed down to speed limit and let him go on ahead of me. I still crack up when I think of the look on his face....

My brother chews tobacco, the really juicy kind that comes in a pouch. You can guess what happens when he gets tailgated. He can't understand why he's always relegated to the back of the pack. If I didn't already have so many bad habits...........

One of the guys on another forum said he always keeps a handful of pea gravel in his jacket pocket for just these contingencies.Talk about fomenting road rage!

I usually keep my sidearm strapped on in plain view when I ride.I find that it is good for several extra yards of clearance to the rear, and to the right, over when I am riding in victim mode. Not only do they pass more courteously, but they leave more room when they pull back in as well. No,I will never brandish my weapon, nor, god forbid, actually shoot someone for tailgating, but they don't know that,do they?

Cheers!
Bruce

I've reached the point in riding where...it's more important to enjoy my ride than be affected by some **** who can't drive...I simply get out of the way...give them the single finger salute...and smile...of course that's only useful when I rock'n the 3/4 lid...

I say don't let them "get to you" and just ride...that and always remember- "He who has more lug nuts...wins..."

Cheers!

...errr...what if things get heated with someone who holsters his weapon on his person and they are the type that would use it - especially seeing you're armed ?

It surprises me that you guys have so many problems with rage where you chase people, given the high rate of handgun ownership and use over there.

And I am not anti gun by any means - just my self preservation instinct kicking in.

Cheers

Getting tailed

I have to admit that I've had a fantasy that dropping a big box of 20 penny nails, or spray their windshield with oil etc. etc. will get them to back off. But I've never done anything like that. I've never braked either. There is no point. Its certain that in any physical contact we're going to come in second. I just twist my right wrist and get away.
If someone is tailgating the CAR its different. Braking can be very effective (IF they are about the same size as you). After all if they rear-end your car the damage their front end will be (generally speaking) 10 times worse than the damage to the rear of your car.
But on the bike... no way, like someone said earlier, we're in a different weight class.

This is the right approach, get out of their way, with a bike you have many evasive options, you've got the speed, the room to break away, I never have that problem with a bike. If I'm already on the max speed limit on the open road in a policed area I just move out of the way and let them go.

With a car I just ignore them if I'm behind traffic or pull over if the road is clear. I'm happy with guys breaking the speed limit in front of me, they set off all the traps !

Ride on !

My theory is that it's so weird to them that they back off for no other reason than to contemplate the oddness of it.
Is mine the only Bonnie that hasn't got reverse gear and back-up lights?

I've found that generally if I'm leaving room in front of me people behind me tend to back off (if that makes sense), that and I like to "flash" my tailights whenever anyone approaches me from the rear.
