I also recently purchased a 2006 Scrambler with a previously salvaged title and 1100 miles. It had tank dents/chips, busted tailight, busted headlight, no mirrors, no badges, broken shifter peg and broken front brake controls.
I paid $3550 for it, approx. $1000 in parts and she's almost ready to go. I'll repaint next winter I think. Still cheaper than many used 883 Sportsters on the market.
I did find after I brought it home that the frame under seat was bent (fat chick perhaps)

. A padded pry bar and a little help got her pretty straight without heat.
So if you're sure the frame is straight, she's cheap, and you like to do a little fixin', I'd go for it.
