Going Across the US again.

Live free or die.

Just finished a short film. Worked non stop as a laborer in the city for the past week and a half and saved about 1,500 dollars... got the Bonnie serviced and am taking off to live on the road for the summer.

Cheers Mates.

I'll try to get on here from time to time at libraries across the US.

If you see a black bonnie stacked with tent/sleeping bag riding through your neck of the woods; give me a holler.

PS. If you saw the other post; the cams were not leaking because of mileage. The gasket was faulty and they replaced it under warranty. Get yours checked too.

Ahhh, Good Luck!

Tis the problem with all nighters, I don't read as well at 3am. I thought you were leaving this summer, I depart in July. Well if you're heading out now and living off the road, I am in awe, hahaha, I can barely stand the wait till July 5.

Better Late Than Never

Jimi (and Pythas), you're doing what a lot of people wished they'd done years ago, including me. When I was your age I had a Triumph Daytona. I don't know what I was thinking, but whenever I thought about taking a long trip on that bike, I thought it was too small and wouldn't make it, like I needed at least a Harley or something.

Over 30 years later I read Jupiter's Travels, written by a guy who rode around the world on basically the same Triumph I had, around the same time! And there I was in San Diego thinking my Daytona wouldn't make it from San Diego to Boise! I ended up taking a FIAT!!!!! That fricking piece of garbage broke down in every state I passed through, several times. It was an adventure all right, but looking back I'm sure I would have made it there and back just fine on my Daytona.

No regrets, but lessons learned.

Good for you! Maybe I'll encounter the both of you on my own trip across in late May. You guys can have a good time chuckling at me groaning as I slowly ease off my Bonneville, searching my pockets for that bottle of aspirin.

All it takes to go on a nice long bike trip is:

A: A bike, ANY bike!
B: Time
C: A few bucks
D: The Gumption to do it

So those of you with the Gumption, money and time, get out there and do it!

tc_dick, too bad. We'd cross paths within days of each other. I'm due back in Skagit County on June 29th, and it sounds like you're heading south about July 1st. Have a nice trip!

If your Spanish language skills are marginal or non-existent, maybe you can sing this Spanish love song to a beautiful Mexican woman:

Thumbs up

Enjoy your time flitting around on the motorcycles! I clearly remember 30 years ago discussing a 3-month bike tour of the U.S. with a friend and clearly remember deciding not to do it because I needed to save more money for college. Hmmmm. Wish I could make that decision all over again. I strongly suspect I'd have managed to pay for college somehow anyway, but I've never been able to just fling three months down and spend it drifting across the country.

Time is more precious than money. Spend wisely.

Regards, Guy
