Did a charity ride this weekend in Atlanta. The ONLY one I'll do as showing up early, sitting around staring at each other for 3 hrs, taking 2 hrs to ride 30 miles, worring about getting run over cause the nut behind me is busy waving instead of watching for brake lights, and paying what seems to be highway robbery toll to be able to ride along and get a complimentry T-shirt and Pin (that I will never use) seems very uncomfortable to me. But, I ride THIS one every year - it's the Georgia Fallen Police Officer Memoral ride. It honors and raises money for the families of the Officers who died the previous year in the line of duty.
There's about 2,000 bikes in it every year - give or take a couple 100. The roads and interstates are shut down by area law enforcement during the ride around the Capital building and to where ever the destination ends up being for a picnic style lunch. Pretty cool to see I can imagine.
This year, as I walked around, I noticed I was not just the only Bonnie present, I couldnt find another Triumph. There's usually a Sprint or Rocket that'll show up. This year, it was just me. Only one person even asked about the bike, "what year is that? and when did they start making them again." kind of stuff. Otherwise, the bikes were Harleys, Metric Crusiers, and maybe a handful of sportbikes ... along with a bunch of guys in leather vests and chaps. I did see 1 MotoGuzzi (cruiser) and 1 Ducati (monster).
About 1/2 of the final ride group. I took this as soon as I arrived.
My lonely Bonnie .... "HiHo Silver ..."
