Leg Cramp

Ok so I had Time today to take the Bonnie out for a spin. My Son decided he would make supper so that gave me about 3 hours to have some fun.
I put my stuff on, give her a once over, fire her up and hit the road. Everything is going great, perfect weather, light traffic, she sounds fine, and my left thigh gets this God Awful Cramp from Hades. I mean I it starts off quick and just starts twisting the muscle, hurting like heck. I have to drive like this for a few minutes to find somewhere to pull off the road, all the time hurting worse and worse. So I find a parking lot to pull in get off the bike and start stretching and massaging the heck out of the leg. Finally after about a 1/2 hour it feels better, so I get back on the bike and take off. About 3 minutes later, it back, worse than before. Pull over wait a while and try it again. It took 4 attemps to releive the pain in the leg. Finally I said the heck with it and went home. All the way back to the house the leg is fine. It was if I wasn't supposed to be out riding today or something. Since I got home no problems. I got on the bike to put it away about 20 min ago and the leg started hurting again. Very wierd. Has this ever happened to anyone else or am I haunted.

Well, you might want to take a couple of pain relievers or eat a banana before you go riding. I read somewhere cramps can be caused by lower potassium levels.

Who knows? It could be you're holding yur mouth wrong.

Maybe somebody up there was looking out for you today.

Cheers!

I've got an arthiritic hip, which will eventually end my riding career. I use the pain as a gauge, not too push it too hard. & provided I do that, & give myself plenty of recovery time, between rides. I'm hopefull that I've a few good riding years left to me yet. Though I was so sore last night, I was ready to sell both my bikes. (perish the thought )
I find standing on the pegs a good way to stop myself cramping up, & extend my ride time.

I also get pains in the hips sometimes if riding in the same position for too long. This from the leg postion , I could use a little more room between seat and foot pegs.
As Old Scratcher says, helps to stand up and move around. I also use to hang the boot heels on the passenger pegs. A set of "Billybars" would also help I think.

Me and a friend were riding from Virginia to Arkansas and were at our last gas stop before our final destination (~30 miles away). After filling up, both of us cramped up at the same time and like you, every time we got back on - the cramps came back. We ended up having to sit there for 3 hours working the cramps out.

Bob, you need Crampex - they are instantaneously effective for me (or can be taken as a preventative, I believe?) and will kill a cramp in moments! Even those 'muscle-tearing' ones. Contact me direct if you can't find any (Google 'Crampex') in the US and I'll send you a pack.

Try lowering your pegs. Modre. 50 dollars. Worked for me.
