Best Pipes for America?

I`ve been searching extensively on this one but I thought I`d throw it out to the floor. An elderly friend of mine has just bought a brand new America and wants to get some pipes for it. He doesn`t have (or want) the internet so he`s asked me to do some homework for him. He`s not after max HP or max noise, just a nice sounding, reasonable quality, nice looking set of pipes, which aren`t stupidly expensive and will give a reasonable HP increase. Also he`d prefer (but not essential) something that will work well without rejetting or airbox mods.

If you could list your 'top3' pipes, that would be really helpful. Thanks a lot.

Just perform a bafflectomy. It sounds great and you can't beat the price. I sold my expensive Staintunes after doing the bafflectomy on my stock pipes.

TOR's

I put the long Triumph Off Road (TORS) on my '06 America. I think they sound great, a nice note but not too loud. They also gave a little more power and they look good too. The Dealer did have to rejet the carb but it is no big deal. If I recall, I believe they were around $400.

I really like my short TORs. You might consider the bafflectomy first, though - the stock pipes don't have any resale value so if they're worthless either way you might tear into them and see how they sound!

I really like the Sceptre's. Low deep tone and just the right amount of volume for me - LOUD!

Bafflectomy

Just perform a bafflectomy.

Kem[/QUOTE]

Just exactly how is this done? I have a 2005 Speedmaster and would like some aftermarket pipes but can't afford them presently. I've had my stock pipes off and don't see that the baffles are in any way removable. Is there an easy way to do this that doesn't ruin the pipes appearance???
