My buddy just picked up this 74 V7 sport today, can't wait to get a road test, didn't what to ask on his first day with his new baby.

I had a buddy in Albuquerque that took a new 1100 motor and put it in an old V7 chassis. Very cool...though not as simple as I just stated. After starting out with pure ideas about the brakes, et al he decided to swap the stoppers, the instruments, the swingarm...well, you get the picture. It was very cool; all green and red...just like the original. He even put on the funky adjustable handlebars. Like my Triumph, I like Guzzis. Funny, its really not so much for what they are, as what they are not...

Typical V-twin! Sitting in the back of a pickup.

Just kidding,I love Guzzis.And old trucks,too.And orange,for that matter.

I wonder if your buddy knows how rare that bike is? I remember when those first came out. Most of the bikes Guzzi was sending over back then were the touring models,Eldorados,or Ambassadors,or whatever. I remember they were only going to import a few dozen or so of the Sports, and then most of those to Socal.I don't know if that's what came to pass,or not.One of the Guzztistis can tell us.

More pix of bike and truck please!

Cheers!
Bruce

Yes, more pics of the very cool bike and truck.

Kinda funny I was just telling a buddy the other day how I was originally looking for a 74ish Guzzi Eldo when I found my T100.

OK, here's a couple more pic's, i know it's still in the back of the pick up,witch is a 57 ford with a 302 small block, mustang front end, so on.
He is trying to track down the Vin # of the bike, Apparently in 74 there where only a few v7 sports with dual disc's and steering dampers from the factory. It may have been a option that was put on by the dealer.

Sorry to take so long to respond, Sweatmachine. Regrettably, I have no pictures of my friend's hybrid V7. However, the picture below shows the variant that was his creative impetus. You may recognize this color combo as the same as the one chosen for the recent V11 Sport. You'll just have to imagine it with a square-head motor and modern Brembos. This guy was really quite an eccentric. He collected electric drills, ball-point pens, and wrenched on people's Guzzis from all over just for the fun of it. The last time I saw him he was restoring an old house and a Moto Morini 3 1/2. Great guy...
