Scramblers 1st Birthday, 7,200 miles on. (ride pics)

Today marks 1 year since I brought my Scrambler home. The odometer rolled over to 7,000 this morning. It’s at 7,193 now.

With the exception of an overnight trip to the dealer last week (carb float was stuck, filling the airbox with gas) I haven’t had any major problems. I’ve done all the mods and most of the maintenance myself. She has TOR's, UNI filter, re-jet, and Thruxton bar-end mirrors. EBC front & rear brake pads and a PIAA headlight are enroute via UPS. I'm trying to decide what to get in the way of suspension next.

She’s been thrashed about in 4 States, ridden in torrential downpour and absurd crosswinds. She looks slightly worn, but still turns heads and draws admiring comments.

We’ve had a couple of unplanned learning opportunities, but no major damage to cycle or rider.

Saturday I took her for a ride over to Mississippi to ride along the beach, 100 miles each way of back roads. Today I ran along the River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Again over 100 miles of rural road each way. Even got in a little dirt action on the way home. Below are some pictures.

Congratulations on your anniversary. I hope your love affair continues for many years to come. I just picked up my new Scrambler on Saturday. I can't wait for ours to begin (if the snow would only stop)!

Nice pic's JBarn3.
Keep an eye on your rear wheel spacers as the miles creep up.
Especially the right side alloy one. The hub seal cuts deep grooves into the alloy, and will allow water/dust past the seal, and into the bearing.
The left side steel spacer is more durable.
Both are cheap to replace as a maintenance issue.
Also check for "chrome lift" on the inside of the rims when having your tyres changed. Using vaseline smeared on the rim tape/ spoke holes help keep moisture out.
Enjoy the 2nd year of owner ship.

Thanks for the comments. I forgot my real camera on the ride along the river, so those are from my phone. They came out alright, but I'm really happy with the beach ones.

innominate, the temptation was just too strong. I found a path up that was lacking the "authorized vehicle only" signs and headed up it.

YOTR2008, whereabouts in SoCal? I lived in Whittier for my first 25 years. Just moved here to NOLA in August.

scramboy, thanks for the tips, I'l definitely keep an eye on those.

Congrats on the 1st birthday. My Bonnie just turned 1 last week. I have a little over 7500 on her and she only gets better every day.

I'm in Garden Grove about 2 miles south of the "Mouse House", actually where I work. I have a sister in law who lives in Florida and for the last 2 years has sent us some boudin she's picked up from her travels in your new neck of the woods. I like the pork better than the crawfish but all around really good stuff.

N.O. is one of those places on my list I'd like to visit sometime in my life for some good eats while listening to raw jazz at some hole in the wall place.
