Bummed-out Over Corbin Seat Purchase

OK... after many months of searching for a nice used Corbin Gunfighter & Lady seat, I found one for a reasonable price on eBay. It was black leather, with deep red piping, stitching in the seat panels and it looked great. Not exactly what I wanted but very close. The seller had perfect feedback and his listing had a "Buy it Now". So I went for it... waited a week for it to arrive... and it showed up this afternoon.

Much to my dismay, when I opened the box it had been damaged in shipping. Now I'm certain it wasn't a case of the seller trying to dupe me, but a case of poor packaging. The seat is perfect except for a 1" long hole that was rubbed in the right front edge during transit.

I've already emailed the seller and waiting for a reply. At this point I'm reasonably confident that he'll do his best to make it right. The main reason I'm telling this story is to offer it up for grabs if anyone is interested. I all I want to do is recoup my loss, plus shipping and avoid the hassle of returning it to the seller or filing a damaged goods claim.

I bought it for $190 plus $20 shipping. I'd need to get an addition $15 for shipping. That's a total of $225 if anyone is interested. You'll need to act fast and pay using PayPal so I can sell it or return it in the next day or two. I can provide a link to the eBay auction if you want to verify my story and I can take all the pics you want. Here's a couple of pics to go on for now.

I would patch that and run it. $210 is a deal, tiny hole or not.

Thanks for the suggestions guys... however my decision has already been made. Because it's not exactly what I wanted, I'll order a new Corbin if and when I get this issue resolved. I just figured that if I could sell it for what I'm asking, then I could help out a fellow RAT member, myself and even the eBay seller... the result would be a win, win, win situation.

Plus an email has already been sent to the seller...

Patrick,

I received the Corbin seat today. Unfortunately there is a problem. I've enclosed pictures showing the front of the seat where a 1" long hole is completely through the leather, and a corresponding hole in the foam sheet in which the seat was wrapped. It appears to me that the box should have been slightly longer. This would have avoided pressure on the front edge of the seat, which apparently caused the the seat to rub against the inside of the box.

I'm not sure how you want to handle this, but I can already tell you what I would prefer to do. Because the hole in the seat cannot be fixed, I'd like to receive a full refund plus the cost of return shipping. This way we can both maintain our current 100% positive eBay feedback rating. Please let me know if this is acceptable to you.

Sincerely,

If I knew how to fix it, I might consider keeping it. But my original intention was only to try the seat to see if I liked it. Then I would sell it, and either buy something else (if I didn't care for it) or use the money and order the Corbin I really want (if I did like it).

Here's another photo that gives a better perspective of the worn leather...

You'll never notice that flaw. I'd blacken it and enjoy. It was a good price, seems perfect otherwise.

Leather Repair Kit

You can also get a leather repair kit for $20 that would fix the problem. Fixed a tear years ago on my bikes seat, couldn't spot it.......
