John Bloor paid for my gas today!

So I'm out riding with a few bonnie riders today and we are sitting at a gas station waiting for one to catch up. In pulls a brand new Special edition Daytona 675 - black/gold. This guy walks about 150 feet over to our group and asks if we need gas?? We kinda give him the go away weirdo look. He says no its free I'm buying? So we say sure, why not? He hands us his business card - Jim Callahan it says. He's working and has to ride the 675 for 500 miles so they can hand it over to a magazine for testing. Turns out he's got a Credit card and John Bloor's picking up the tab for our fuel. Says Bloor is flying into ATL next week and we ask if he will be riding in the mountains. Jim says no he flys everywhere by helicopter, he doesn't ride. Jim also told us a very wealthy triumph rider from Alabama is funding the thruxton cup series this year since triumph seem to be lacking any interest. So he buys fuel for 3 of us hops on the 675 takes off down the road. Real nice guy - actually meet him once before at a rat raid at deals gap in 04. Tough job Jim has - having to work on a sunny 75 degree Sunday and all, using Mr Bloors credit card for all his expenses. I'm thinking about a career change.

Where do we sign up John. I'd like to apply for that job too. Not as impressive as your story, but the last time I was at my dealer they had 4 of the SE Daytona 675s on their floor. The owners were there to take delivery and make a ride with the local RAT pack.

A wealthy Triumph rider from Alabama...

...something is just so wrong with that... I can't put my finger on it.

That is cool John! I had to buy my own today, and it's getting pretty expensive in case you hadn't noticed!

That's a great story. I wonder how often he runs across groups of Triumph riders? Which bike were you riding and did he have any comments about it?

That's really cool, makes you feel something special !

.....and yes, surprised Bloor doesn't ride, makes it all the more unbelievable how he has successfully resurrected the brand and why !

Ride on !

Bloor doesn't ride

In a issue of Torque from a couple of years ago he did a interview and stated that he had gotten hurt somehow and could not ride.

Did you guys visit with him a bit about RAT and Torque? I think by now Triumph has given some direction to the Americas and I'd like to hear what they have in mind.

I suppose he knows a little something about the Thruxton Cup Challenge as well.
