british customs shipping ***!?!

was a about to pull the trigger on a pair of these bar end adapters from british customs then i noticed the shipping. $30!!! what gives here? i feel like they're actually bending me over. the adapters are $17 and probably weigh a few ounces.

i went to the ups store and mailed a pair of saddlebags. . . saddlebags!. . . the other day for less than $20 including the box and packaging. sorry to be venting like this but i really annoys me that i may have to pay upwards for $50 for them unless i can find an alternative means of attaching the mirrors or get british customs to listen to reason

When you checkout, the shipping charges are listed for UPS. If you click on the UPS box, you will find that they also have other carriers. Check the charges for other carriers. I just tried that and came up with less than $5.00 charge for FedEx.

It's not just British customs. I ordered from another one of the popular places a couple of weeks ago. He overcharged me on shipping by 21 dollars. It cost 9 odd dollars to ship the parts, it said so right there on the post office label on the box, yet he charged me over 30 dollars for shipping costs.

I don't mind paying actual charges, but an extra 21 bucks chapped my hiney real bad. I'm afraid I'll have to spend my money somewhere else from now on. I am about to order Norman Hyde exhaust and rearsets too. That's over 1k dollars of parts that someone else will get to sell me because of the shipping cost deception.

let me just say that i did exactly what fidhle said and got $5 for fedex. beautiful. . . the rub was that the default was a ridiculously high charge that--if i wasn't paying attention--i might have accidentally selected. why they don't just put all the shipping costs out there to begin with is beyond me.

this story , though, has a happy ending for me

you have to call them

their web based shipping thing does not work properly, I think they say they only really charge what it costs them

Got an email from a fellow in Sweden who said that he would have to pay a 30% VAT. Can this be true?

Hallo Mike,
yes that is unfortunately true. I have bought from you mirrors, fairing and bars and had to pay VAT as for goods coming from non european country Anyway I want more stuff from you and I think if you would send it as private person, maybe it would come without this vat.
