Cruiser Position, shock absorbtion

Riding in the cruiser position has one drawback. When I see a pothole or bump I can’t avoid, there is no way to use your knees to absorb some of the energy so it goes right to my back.

I have always found it helps to lift up a little on the pegs, flex your knees and you can absorb the major portion of the shock. In the cruiser position, this does not seem possible.

Anyone else noticed this or have a solution?

That is definetly a drawback of the cruiser position alright. I still "try to stand " and put pressure on the pegs at the bump and it helps a little.

Floor Boards

That's where floor boards come in handy. I can get off the saddle no problem, has come in handy many times, plus more comfortable for me than pegs on all day rides as I can move feet up and back....

someone one day said "I have a good idea...let's put the seat right down on the frame"

and everyone said "OK"

the springs under the seat that used to be are like having springs in your car seat...and I'm not sure why folks think it's a good idea not to have them.

...and there's your cruiser position answer...circa 1920.
