Wink Best Model help

Hi I am new t the site and I would like some help in choosing my new bike to buy. I like the Triumph Speedmaster 865cc, looks and design but I do not like the standard silencers noise since it seems as a very weak engine. Are there any aftermarket silencers which make the engine heared as those rumbling Harley Davidsons. And also is there any re location kit for the driver's footpegs which may be fitted closer, since I am a little short and do not reach the footpegs enough when I tried to sit on my friend's bike?

Have a look at the thread " Speedmaster low profile seat" in this forum.

Yes, you can get aftermarket pipes that make loud noise, but a Triumph will never sound like a HD.

Have you looked at any of the Bonnevilles other than a friend's? Unlike HD dealers, some Triumph dealers have demo bikes that you can actually try.

The forum's here are loaded with good info and you can search on almost anything you want (there's even a "sticky" on Exhausts). Google on Triumph Dealers in your area. Stop by and check other models.

Good Luck!

Hiya, Malteser. Welcome.

All the Triumph twins are quiet stock (emissions regulations) and there are plenty of options to remedy this. Triumph's own TORS (Triumph Off-Road Silencers) make it sound like a proper bike but some complain that they're (still) too quiet. I have the long version on my Speedie and I love 'em.

There are several ways to set up a cruiser for the shorter of leg, although, as it doesn't apply to me, I've not paid any attention to it. If you head on over to bonnevilleamerica.com (a site dedicated to the cruisers) you'll find all the information you need...and more.

As for which model is best (as per the title), no-one can answer that for you. The engines are pretty much the same so just go with whichever speaks to you the most.

I can...

the T100 is the closest to the original gem...everything else is a marketing version of the bloodline...and has it's place...but as far as "best", it's the original...they had it pretty much right years ago...which is why it's back, and so well received.

from that rock, you can go cheap, racer, chopper or dirt bike as your tastes sway...but "taste" is not indicative of "best".

Forget about the exhaust; they are just there to satisfy legal requirements and it's pretty much a given that you're going to change them out. Same is true of a Harley Davidson. Hearing a Harley with a stock exhaust is very rare indeed.

What kind of riding do you like to do? What kind of roads will you likely be riding on, and for what kind of distances? Do you expect to be riding solo or 2-up?

The crankshaft on the T100 I believe is still a 360 degree crank just like the old bike's. The Speedmaster and the America have a 270 degree crank in order to smooth out vibration but the sound is very different. I have Triumph off roads on my America and I like them because they are not obnoxiously loud. I put Screamin Eagles on my wife's bike and now my ears are fried. I can't hear them ringing anymore.
