Question tank and fender swaps?

I was thinking it would be great to be able to swap tanks & fenders with other owner, how cool would it be to change the color of you bike every year or so. it sounds like Thruxton & scramblers are a match, and Bonnevilles to Bonnevilles, it would be cool for people who live close to each other. anybody done this?? the installation would be easy, like getting a new bike over and over again, kind of

My bike was a blk/red color scheme when I bought it. It was in a wreck so I had no choice but to replace parts. I took your idea and red/silver tank, silver side covers, Mas shorty alum front fender, Shorty silver rear fender. Volia!! a new bike.

The bike behind the bonnie is his older brother. 1800CC SE DYNA FXD.

A very cool idea, Danny, but a little utopian. Since age, use, climate and level of care all affect the finish of these parts, the condition of both sets would have to be very close to make sure it's an even swap. What happens if one owner decides he wants his parts back and the other doesn't want to swap back? I just see it as an idea with limited potential and some built-in problems, but a cool idea nonetheless. I might even be willing to try it, provided everything was understood and agreed upon up front.

Danny, when are you going to fill in your profile and list what you ride and where you live???????????

Anyway, If you want to swap me for my Bonnie Black tank, well, you'd be making a BIG mistake! I ride everywhere with a magnetic tank bag and it has a lot of scratches in it that I've touched up with a touch up kit/brush. Ugly!
It doesn't bother me cause its always covered up. I figure were I to ever sell it I will have to repaint the tank just to do it!!!

dannychrist, I did that .. except I just picked up spares from eBay and such.

My Bonnie in stock colors ...

My Bonnie with Tang/Wht tank - black fender ...

My Thrux with stock black colors ..

Then I decided to swap all the silver stuff from my Bonnie over to the Thrux ...

Didnt like the looks of a silver Thrux so I swapped all the black parts back to it and then added a fairing ..
