Know how you feel, we're similar weather here, just a day after you! I talked to my cousin in N. Atlanta on Sunday morning as I just finished putting the new silencers on Thrux, garage open and about 60 degrees, he said there was snow on the roofs there and he was just staying in. Today its 30-35 degrees here. Soon, very soon though spring will be here

Drew: you live in ATLANTA and you're complaining about the weather???? I'm getting ready to go out and try to remove 15" of snow in my driveway without having a heart attack so I can get my car to the alley, where it can get stuck again, and then to the street where I can ride on ice to the highway.
Everything's relative there, Lad.
Take care,

Monte,
I think he is pulling our chain. There is no way anybody can complain about 60s weather.
Greetings,
Thor

You want some cheese with that whine? I'm two states to your north, riding each and every day. Cold weather just means wear more layers.

I put 200 plus miles on the motor this weekend. It was too windy on Saturday, but Sunday was a great riding day.
Man up and get out there! When you gonna come over this way for a ride, Drew?

Hey! I still ride any day there isn't ice on the roads...
I'm just sayin' can't we get a little consistency from Ma' Nature?
Let's try starting out around, oh I dunno say 50 degrees in the A.M.?
Anything over 40 is doable but not very fun - lol
I'm in a Hawaiian Shirt for petesake!

Drew, it is global warming gone a muck. If you call Al Gore he will buy extra carbon credits and straighten the weather out for you

I'm a motorcycle newb so forgive me, maybe I don't know that I'm not supposed to be having fun. But it's been down in the 30's most mornings here in Raleigh and I've still got a big smile on my face when I get to the office from the ride over.
Down bottom I wear my regular leather boots, extra-thick winter socks, thermal long-john underwear, regular denim jeans, knee pads, and a set of rain pants as a wind breaker. This combination works well to keep me warm below the belt line.
Up top I wear a tee shirt, sweater, lined flannel shirt over that, and my Olympia AST riding jacket with the liner zipped in.
My hands are cold. No gloves seem to keep my hands warm when riding. It's not enough to keep me off the bike, but it is enough for me to budget for buying some heated gear for next winter.
For a lid, I just wear my helmet with nothing else. I'd be a lot more comfortable with a balaclava, but since I haven't gotten one yet you can assume correctly that it's not bad enough to make me borrow my wife's minivan. My chin, lips, neck, and earlobes tend to get pretty cold this way. It wouldn't take much to fix this. Even a simple scarf would do it.
When I leave to come home and the temperature is 20 degrees warmer, I leave a few layers in my backpack.
By adding more layers I'm finding that riding well into the 30's can be quite enjoyable. If it gets colder than that, I do worry about ice so it's not a matter of comfort so much as safety.
