Newbie about to purchase a Bonnie

Hey Guys

I need some input on the newer Bonnie's. I am looking to buy a 2001 and up Bonneville but needs any input available. I hear that after 2002 they were not making them in the England anymore. Also 2007 started making bigger engines, is that even something to consider. Please give any and all input....It is well appreciated.

Here is one that I was looking at. It has about 6500 miles.

Thanks

Thumbs up

I saw the Bonnie Black you're looking at on Craig's. Looks just fine. You really have to go over any used bike you buy. Make sure you feel around the fuel tank and feel for any rough spots leaks etc. Go for a ride for sure. I don't really think the year or size of the engine is important. They are all basically the same. They give good motorcycle.

I love my Bonnie and it's fun to ride around on. Go plunk down the dough and start riding.

As to where they're manufactured. Triumph has had a state of the art plant in Tailand for years. Engine components for just about all Triumphs have parts from that plant. I think they are still assembled in England though. My brother asked for the VIN on mine and this website he knows about said that it was assembled in England and mine's an 07.

Thumbs up New Bonne Sorta

They were made in England till 07. The 790 is a real good motor. I got one! They are all 865's now. As said - no real difference , till you talk to the super bike builders & they will tell ya that the 790 will rev higher & is a bit peppier due to the cams it has. I can attest to that since I ride often w/ an 07 - 865 & there isnt much real difference. The 790 is more buildable since you dont have to do the cams as you would in an 865? Whatever you get- these are great bikes. Was my 1st & now my last!! Gonna stop making them as we know them in 09. The once again will become "true" classics once again! I got mine- get yours & ride safe!! They have a tendency to gather crowds- so be ready!! Its an every day thing, so if you get one- know a little about the bike!! Ride on & safe!!!

My 2007 Bonneville T100 was assembled in England. You can tell from the 11th digit of the VIN number. A "J" = England, a "T" = Thailand. Quality should be the same either way.

The rmor about quitting in '09

Think a little The bonnie series is there best selling line, and they just went to the trouble of designing the FI system for it,

WHY would they have gone to that expense, not to mention the new assy plant in Thailand to just discontinue the thing in two model years?????????????

I thought he was refering to the EFI.
I haven't heard any rumours about an '09 discontinuation.
Though we may have just started one.

That doesn't sound right at all.

Triumph went to a lot of trouble and expense to introduce EFI in 2009, and a lot of retooling, engineering, testing, and certifications were needed to make that happen. I have a hard time believing they would do that just to get one more year out before calling it quits.
