Aluminum sidecover?

I like running the Bonnie without the sidecovers, although modified (sidecovers), I like the open look of the filters and related area...however, I don't care that the fuse box and alike items (both sides) are expose to the elements and/or someones greasy no good hands...it could happen. So I was trying to think of a minimal approach to some simple covers...nothing like the stock ones...more flat and out of the way? So out came a sheet of Aluminum (1/16") for weight savings...some snips and the stencils I fabbed out of last years Triumph Bonneville calendar! This is what I came up with...nothings ever final...but I have a good feeling about these? What do you think? Right now they are WD40/Scotchbrite polished...I'm thinking about painting them black to blend in further, but the raw AL sure is tempting...maybe if I had a Polished tank? Anyhow...what'cha think?

The shape was inspired by the frame and exhaust/rear peg support (triangular)

Bushings and all for a solid fit

Going to work on the right side cover tomorrow...

Cheers!

as much as I love raw, scotchbrited, and polished aluminum, I think they'd look better black on your bike.

I'm with Sweat. Since you're going for the hot rod look, I think black would look better. Also, maybe shape it in a way so that you can see the whole filter.

that's some pretty innovative thinking. i like the idea.

i think black would look better. you could always strip the paint off if you weren't a fan. or union jack the covers...
