I wonder if using heavier gauge metal for the bracket might just stop the problem of flexing.

I keep looking at your picture every time you post and kinda laugh because it reminds me of the movie "Kingpin" But everything you say is intelligent and I'm on-board with it so I think to myself - stay close to this guy, he's smart!

Horn

The model that I got was larger than some. I got the all chrome (not the best idea?)
It fit where the old one was -Check my only photo under search= Capt Don
It works well & looked good when new. The rust is giving me a worlout!! It still sounds good & is adjustable. I may play w/ it now? Its starting to show its age. See if I can get a real obnoxious sound outa it?? Next one will be BLACK!! Got enuff chrome!

Well, I bought one of those horns today. It is a WOLO Bad Boy or something like that from Autozone. It is the same as the Stebel. I liked the idea of putting it on the right side of the bike next to the carb, but the bracket shown in the mouning above is thin and I worried that the mass of the horn working on it might fatigue the frame to cyl head bracket. So, I made two brackets. One is attached the the large bolt that goes through the above bracket and through the cyl head. It goes at an angle down under the carb and comes up to mount the horn. It was too flexible, so I made a second bracket coming from the upper bolt in the cyl head bracke bracket over the manifold and down to bolt to the first bracket just above the horn. It is stiff enough now. Here are some photos.

Here is another.

And one with the bike back together.

I mounted the horn relay where the AI crap used to be. That allowed the original horn wires to plug right into the relay.

I had to modify the bracket by adding a piece that goes straight forward from the existing horn mount hole. My leg was hitting the horn. The horn needs to be very close to the engine cylinder and lower. It is still a stiff enough bracket. It also makes it much easier to access the horn mounting nut from the top with a short wrench.

It will be difficult to remove the oil cap to refill or add oil with the horn in this location. The good news is that it is very easy to remove the horn with a short 1/2 12 point box wrench. An aftermarket hex head oil fill cap will allow removal of the cap easily with the horn in place. I rode 40 miles today with it in this location and my leg does not hit it.

Hi Everyone,

I want one the Stiebel horns as riding with the stock horn is just asking for trouble. I would like to hide it as much as possible and might try adding a NARK and HOPEFULLY with extra room freed up can hide it inside the side covers.

Some might say that will muffle the sound some but with the increased decibels its sure worth a try. Has anyone done this?

I've heard 2 guys from BA.com say they did that and were quite happy. mine is mounted out front and I might split the compressor from the trumpet this winter as I still have my airbox.

Horn

I keep using my 130 db Kirk horn. Still does the job but for how much longer ? Rode today & looked @ it. Gettin pretty rusty. Looks bad but still works. I think if I paint it it will deaden the sound some? I may try. The next one will be powder coated for sure!
