I think I remember some people saying that they didn't hold enough.

They look great and are very high quality. They are made to be a laptop case / brief case. The inside has a divider, a pocket, 2 cell phone sleeves, and two pen sleves. The divider makes it difficult to pack it the way you might pack a suit case. What do you plan to use it for?

It is limited to just that "city". ...appropriately named.
it is well made, cosmopolitan and very stylish but they are not "Saddle Bags"
I have one for just the right side and use it now and then.
I would be a bit hesitant to put a lap top in there but files notebooks a sandwich light business and school use i think was the intention. Maybe a Triumph manual but not a city phone book!!
I would think a reinforced liner or sleeve would be good. I had a conversation with Flip at http://www.flipmeisters.com/ and he mentioned something that he made for the R3 and it might be applicable to the City bag to keep it's shape. I may ask him if it's something he'd consider making.

Cool stuff

I think all I would really put in it is a couple of water bottles, some tools, maybe a couple of sandwiches and a shirt, would that fit?? are the compartments divide too small to accomodate water bottles? say 12 or 16 oz? Wierd thing is , I actually could use a general bag for a laptop, also I hear they detach very easily, does anyone worry about them getting ripped off if they leave them out of sight for a bit??

The city bag is definately well made, IMO it would hold a lap top in 1/2 of it and other stuff similar in size to a laptop in the other half. It's ideal for someone who has an office type job and wants to commute to work with their newspaper, lunch, laptop, etc. It's not really ideally suited for packing for a trip since it's not all that big and does have this divider down the middle. It could get ripped off, since it doesn't attach permanently but rather snaps in place (the snaps don't have to be used though, it will stay put just by sliding it in place over the rail), so I tend to take it off the bike or lock it with a little cable type lock if I'm just stepping away for a little while. The bag is a nice enough leather brief case that I would worry about someone stealing it not for the contents but just for the bag itself. Here's a few pic's of it installed on my Scrambler:

Note: They also sell a matching tank bag, high on good looks, low on actual capacity, still it would hold your wallet, cell phone, etc, I thinks it's about 2" thick, check the 68 part of Triumph's web site to see it. These items are for people who want style and quality but not necessarily function, unless you need it for commuting purposes. If they made these items 50% bigger I think they would be much more functional, but that's just my opinion. I do like the fact that it really easily detaches, and that it looks good, but think it's a little too small for real load carrying (for touring) capacity, which is one reason I installed a luggage rack.
