Scramblin' in the Wet

The headline says it all!

Though with a gap in the rain this morning, I wasn't slow to get the Scram uncovered & back out on the road, to check out the damage.

& I had no trouble getting up to Pt Douglas, (where I had that lovely breakfast), even though the rivers were bursting their banks everywhere.

Lucky there's a high-level crossing downstream.

It was just great to get out & about again.

Looking Sth over 4 Mile Beach Pt. Douglas.

The roads are still a bit damp, & they can be very slippery, where dirt & debris have washed across them. But they're generally quite grippy, due to the scrubbing they've just had.

The best thing about riding in the Wet, is that every rock-face becomes a waterfall. So you're constantly getting blown away by vista's like this, around every bend (which can be a bit dangerous for the uninitiated).

I had a top ride & didn't even get wet!
& as the clouds are building up again already, for our afternoon drenching, I reckon I timed that run just about perfect.
That's the only way to get your jollies, when the weather don't want you to.
Quickly!
Still Ridin'
Scratch

I just love the "wet season", a special time of year.

Thanks for taking us on a virtual ride. We got a little snow here today and while nothing like some of our other rat brothers get it made the beauty of summer rides seem so much farther away. It will probably be gone tomorrow and I can ride to work.

Hey Scratch,
Loved the top photograph. A lot of information in that picture, and all nicely organized.

That last pic is gorgeous,Scratch. It's suitable for framing.Plus the Scrambler looks like she could be a proper Meriden bike, with what looks almost like a puddle of oil under her.

No worries.
Always happy to share
Here's another roadside waterfall along the Capt. Cook Hwy to Pt. Douglas.

This is the Mowbray River a few miles sth of Pt. Douglas.

It's still inside it's banks. But only just. Another good night of rain should see it burst into the surrounding canefields.

Lake Placid, was anything but.

I wonder where the croc's have gone, to escape all that white-water?
I'm glad I never pondered that while I was taking that photo.

Scratch,
That Mowbray River pic is awesome! It looks like an ad. I love the adventure chronicles.
